A good source for educating Canadians on how our government works.

When working on the previous post on the insanity of the Conservatives using the Russians as our whipping boys I had a read through Laurie Hawn's website.  On it there is a link to a page entitled "How Parliament Works".

From this page I am able to draw out this quote:

A Prime Minister may lose his or her seat in an election but can remain in office as long as the party can command a majority in the House of Commons.

Seeing as how Mr. Hawn is a brave former Officer, I imagine he pointed this out to Harper last December.
